Balance-Based Dragonfly The flying partner will go into a pole sit while the base partner inverts into a dragonfly variation with legs crossed. The base will push their upper body as high as possible, creating a flat surface that the flyer can step on. The flyer will exit the pole sit onto the back of their base and release their hands from the pole.
Balance-Based Superman The base partner will go into a pole sit, while the flyer performs a superman underneath. The base partner will place one foot on the hamstrings of their flyer and the other foot slightly below the back of their knees, allowing their weight to press their partner’s legs slightly downwards. When ready, the flyer will release their hands from the pole and arch up to counterbalance the weight. The base partner must remain standing on the legs of their partner until they can safely regrab the pole.
Assisted Spin-Up Transition
Assisted Spin-Up Transition The base partner will stand in a high lunge with their outer leg in front and their inner arm on the pole. The flying partner will step with their inner leg onto the hip crease of the base partner and perform an aerial chair spin, landing onto the shoulders of the base partner. Both partners will extend their legs and face the pole.
Flying Fang The base partner will invert into a dragonfly and the flyer will place themselves into a shoulder mount position underneath, facing their base. The flyer then performs a shouldermount, hooking their legs into the armpits of their base and bending the knees. The base must insure that they guide their partners legs into the right position and squeezes their arms close to their body. The flyer then releases their upper body, arching back.
The Russian Split - Doubles
The Russian Split The Base partner will climb up the pole and go into a dragonfly variation by inverting into an outside leg hang and wrapping the other leg around the pole, crossing it over the thigh of their outside leg hook. The Flying partner will turn away from the pole, standing with their palms facing the pole. They will then extend their arms behind them, keeping the palms in the same position so that they can grab their partner’s wrists. Once both partner’s have a strong grip, the flying partner will place one leg onto the pole, extending it while simultaneously pulling their hips away from the pole, entering a piked position. The Flyer should make sure to engage the shoulders and pull towards the base of the pole with the arms, push into the pole with the foot that is stepping. They can then extend the back leg into a split. To come out, the flyer has to thread the back leg through the hands and step down towards the ground.
Floor-Based Handspring on Split
Floor-Based Handspring on Split The base partner will stand next to the pole, while the flyer kneels in front. The flyer will place their hand, with the pointer finger facing down, onto the shin of their flyer’s outside leg, right above the ankle. The flyer should be facing towards the pole at this point, not away. The base will begin to lift their inner leg up, into a split while allowing their flyer to hook their forearm into their hip, grabbing around their thigh. Once the flyer has hooked their arm, the base will continue to extend their leg and secure it into a split by using their outer arm to grab the pole in a cup grip below their heel. The flyer then turns their body to the ceiling and kicks up into their handspring position. To exit the position, the flying partner can land to the side on their feet, while the base partner slowly brings their leg down.
No-Handed Layback Variation
No-Handed Layback Variation One partner will go into a pole sit with both legs extended. The other partner will climb up the side of the pole until they can reach their outer arm fully around both of their partner’s legs and grab the pole. They will then release their legs from the pole, allowing their body weight to press their layback partner’s legs downwards. The layback partner will press their hips up and arch back, releasing their hands from the pole. To exit the trick, the layback partner will regrab the pole and the other partner will come back into their climbing position.
Flip, Fly, and Drop
Flip, Fly, and Drop The base partner will stand facing the pole with both arms extended out in front of them. The flyer will grab the pole and their base’s shoulder. The flyer will pike their hips up and roll over their base’s arms, while simultaneously lifting their upper body towards the ceiling. Once the flying position is stable, the base partner will bring the leg that is on the opposite side of their flyer’s head, across their body and hook the pole as if performing a cupid. The base partner will then release both of their hands from under their flyer so that the flyer will drop into a cradled position over the base’s outer thigh. The base should not unhook their leg from the pole until the flyer is ready.
The Terminator The flying partner will enter a pole sit and the base partner will go into a shouldermount directly below their partner. The flying partner releases their legs from the pole and the shouldermount partner brings their feet on their flying partners hips, extending their legs and their hips in a straight line. The weight from the flying partner should press the base partner into the pole, as counter balance. To get out the flying partner goes back into the pole sit and the base partner exits trough the shouldermount.
Interlocking Upright Position
Interlocking Upright Position Both partners will climb together, using the same leg on the bottom and the same leg on the top. They must then, bring the top leg from the climbing leg around each others thighs. Grab each others hands, and slowly lean back. To come out, they pull each other together up to the pole and then go back into their climbing position to come out.
No-Handed Layback Spin
Step 1 The base partner will go into a pole sit with their legs extended. The flying partner will grab the legs of their base partner and pull down slightly. Step 2 They then run to get momentum and release their legs from the floor and bring them in any position they want. The top partner, if they feel comfortable and enough weight on their legs, can release their arms from the pole and lay back. Step 3 It is very important that the flying partner does not release the legs from the upper partner unless the grab completely back up onto the pole again.
The Eye or The Circle
The upper partner in the eye, will go into a straight leg pole sit. The bottom partner will go into a superman in their preferred method, right below the legs of the upper partner. The superman partner will grab the legs from the layback partner. And only when the layback partner feel safe, and the weight from the superman , can they release the hands and grab for the superman partners legs. They then look back and extend each others arms. Its really important on the way up, that the superman partners keeps pressure on the legs from the layback partner and wait till until they grab the pole, before they come out of their superman.
Interlocking Inside Leghang on Spin
Interlocking Inside Leg Hang on Spin The first person will spin into their inside leg hang. The second person will wait till their partner is facing away from them, before they grab above their partners knee, to invert into their inside leg hang. And now they are in their interlocking inside leg hang position. They can also grab each others legs and pull it down, to make it look even nicer. One way to exit the position, is having the partners bring their hands to the floor in a handstand position. And then they get out from their inside leg hang, and handstand down from the pole.
The first person inverts into an inside leg hang. The second person will be on the opposite side of the pole facing the head of the first person, grabbing above their leg. They will also invert into an inside leg hang. When they are stable , both partners bring their hands down the pole to the floor in a handstand position. This is the the first shape. Then they can both bend their back leg or even wrap it around their partners thigh. To come out, both partners will have to unhook their inside leg hang into a handstand position.
